After a year as Design Director of the Emerging News Products team, Amy King adds Editor of The Lily to her title. Amy first proposed a version of The Lily more than a year ago. With assistance from throughout the newsroom, she worked through several iterations of it before developing the current editorial and creative vision for the product. She joined The Post in 2013 as a features designer and transitioned to the Emerging News Products team in 2014. In this dual role Amy will continue to work on crafting the visual identity of each product our team produces, from the national app to Snapchat and now, The Lily.
Neema Roshania Patel becomes Deputy Editor for The Lily. Neema joined The Post in 2016 as a Digital Editor on the national app. In her new role, she will work closely with partners in and outside of the newsroom to bring stellar journalism to distributed platforms in non-traditional ways. She has already shined in this area through her work with Apple News, MSN and Facebook. Her ability to remain calm under pressure and her instinct for smart storytelling leave every product she touches better than she found it. She graduated from Rutgers University and previously worked at NPR member station WHYY in Philadelphia.
Rachel Orr will be an art director for The Lily. Rachel came to Washington in 2013 to be a designer for Express. She joined the Emerging News Product team as a designer in 2014 and has helped define our aesthetic within the national suite of apps. She has worked with everything from Facebook Instant Articles to Snapchat Discover. She graduated from Ohio University and previously worked at The Arizona Republic.
Amy Cavenaile will also be an art director for The Lily. Amy joined The Post in 2015 as a designer for the Emerging News Products team. Amy is an inventive designer who has helped strengthen the visuals of our national suite of apps. She was also on the launch team for The Post’s Snapchat Discover channel. She graduated from Ball State University and previously worked at the Omaha World-Herald.
Ashley Nguyen moves into a dual role on the Emerging News Products team. She will write, edit and produce stories for The Lily while continuing in her role as a Digital Editor for the national app. Ashley joined The Post in 2015 as a producer on Emerging News Products team. Her editorial intuition and production skills result in a stronger product while encouraging everyone around her to be better. She graduated from Temple University and previously worked at the International Center for Journalists. Ashley also spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan.
Amy Cavenaile, Ashley, Neema and Rachel have played key roles in helping Amy King develop The Lily. They worked to create product prototypes, craft the tone and editorial strategy, and develop the brand’s final aesthetic and voice.
