Steve comes to us from The Boston Globe, where he had been City Editor since 2011. As City Editor, Steve helped direct the Globe’s Pulitzer Prize winning coverage of the Marathon bombings, homing in on the drama and wide reach of that huge event very early on. In addition, Steve ran several major projects for the Globe, including a series about death and neglect in nursing homes that resulted in meaningful reforms. He also oversaw one of the country’s first enterprise series about the opioid crisis. Before Steve became an editor, for nearly a decade he was a reporter on the health and science, from which he covered Hurricane Katrina and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti among other major news stories.
