On October 18, The Washington Post will explore how the nation is responding to America’s opioid epidemic, which has seen the number of cases of opioid abuse and opioid-related deaths skyrocket. Richard Baum, acting director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, will talk one-on-one with Health Reporter Lenny Bernstein about the Trump administration’s approach to the crisis. Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), both of whom come from districts hard-hit by the epidemic, will discuss legislative options and regulatory challenges as Congress looks to combat opioid abuse. CVS Health President and CEO Larry J. Merlo will weigh in on the search for solutions to the crisis.
This event will be streamed live on The Post’s site. Attendees must RSVP.
