On November 9, 2017 — a day before the nation observes Veterans Day — The Washington Post will host U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin for a conversation about the most critical issues affecting America’s 22 million veterans.

The discussion will include his department’s efforts to curb the veterans’ suicide rate, address post-traumatic stress disorder and other health concerns. The secretary will also talk about challenges facing those transitioning from military to civilian life, including workforce training and housing.

Shulkin, a board-certified internist and the former chief executive of several major hospitals and health systems, served as the VA’s Under Secretary for Health for 18 months before being unanimously confirmed by the Senate on February 13, 2017 as the nation’s ninth Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

This event will be streamed live on The Post’s site at wapo.st/postlive. Media who wish to cover can RSVP to Brooke.Lorenz@washpost.com
