Meagan Flynn joins Morning Mix

Announcement from Morning Mix Editor Fred Barbash and Deputy Morning Mix Editor Susan Hogan:

We are pleased to welcome Meagan Flynn as our new reporter on the Morning Mix.

Meagan joins us from the Houston Chronicle, where she worked on the metro desk covering breaking news and criminal justice. Before that she worked at the Houston Press, where she covered with great distinction a wide range of social justice and political issues, including civil rights, drug policy, homelessness, immigration, bail reform and police scandals in Harris County, Texas, the nation’s third-largest criminal justice system. She also distinguished herself in coverage of Houston’s dramatic flooding events, in particular Hurricane Harvey and its lingering impact.

Her boundless energy, demonstrated skill at both deadline and feature writing and her eye for the great story on any subject make her an ideal choice to join the team. A Midwesterner at heart, she grew up in the northwest Chicago suburbs and graduated in 2015 from Drake University in Des Moines, with degrees in magazine journalism and writing.

When she’s not at the keyboard, she’s most likely catching live music or reading a book. If you’re here in the late (or early) hours, please come by and say hello.
