Washington Post reporter Dan Lamothe has won the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation’s Colonel Robert D. Heinl, Jr. Award for his feature story, “Brothers in Arms,” and its accompanying podcast series.

In this piece, Lamothe tells the story of four siblings’ World War II experience through the hundreds of letters they wrote to each other.  The podcast, “Letters From War,” features veterans who bring the family’s story to life by giving a voice to their letters.
