Announcement from Editorial Video Director Micah Gelman, Deputy Director of Video Phoebe Connelly and Senior Video Producer Peter Stevenson:

We are thrilled to announce Amber Ferguson will become video editor on the Local desk.

Since joining The Post last year as a video editor with Morning Mix, Amber has produced hundreds of videos for stories across all topics. As our overnight editor, Amber was often the first to tackle late-breaking news, ensuring our audience wakes up to the most compelling, must-watch video.

Amber covered the rapidly changing story of the Austin serial bomber as it played out overnight and produced a moving obituary for Stephen Hawking. Her passion for reality television was instrumental when we needed to explain to readers the viral finale of The Bachelor. She has been a key player in our successful launch on Apple News, producing out multiple videos each morning for their AM edition.

Amber is also a reporter and writer, producing compelling video-text pairings, such as this piece about 50 ‘big-hearted’ bikers who escorted a bullied sixth-grader to his first day of school. Amber’s versatility will make her a great addition to the Local desk, where she will continue to cover a wide range of topics.

Before joining The Post, Amber was a video editor at HuffPost, where she helped grow video programming for both politics and general news. Amber also interned at CNN and NBC News.

Please join us in congratulating Amber.
