Announcement from Director of Photography MaryAnne Golon and Deputy Directors of Photography Dudley Brooks and Robert Miller:

The Photo staff is thrilled to announce that  Brent Lewis will join The Post as a photo assignment editor, focusing on our Feature sections.  Brent has spent the last two years as a senior photo editor at The Undefeated where he crafted the visual identity of the site, which focuses on the intersection of sports, race and culture.

Brent began his career as a photographer and worked for the Denver Post, the Rockford (Illinois) Register Star and the Chillicothe (Ohio) Gazette.  He graduated from Columbia College of Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in photography after transferring from Northern Illinois University where he studied electrical engineering.  “I am so grateful that my grandfather threw a camera at me way back in 2008,” he says.

Brent is the co-founder of Diversify Photo, a website devoted to building a vibrant community for the photographers to engage with one another. If you have five minutes, he is always willing to tell you the story about how Kanye West is the reason he is not working at a Starbucks. When he is not busy whipping up a new curry for his wife Jasmine and 3-year-old son Koa, he is likely eating at his favorite D.C. restaurant:  Pho Viet on 14th Street.

Brent will start April 30. We can’t wait to have him bring his creative digital storytelling to The Post.
