From Features Editor Liz Seymour, Deputy Features Editor Mitch Rubin and Food and Dining Editor Joe Yonan:

We’re excited to announce that food staff writer Maura Judkis has won a prestigious James Beard Foundation Media Award in the humor category. Judkis won for a 2017 piece, “Pumpkin Spice Life,” in which she spent “one nutmeg-laden week” trying more than 40 pumpkin-spice products.

The Beard Media Awards, announced at an awards dinner in New York on April 27, are considered one of the top honors available for cookbook authors, culinary broadcast producers and hosts and food journalists.

The Post received two other Beard nominations: Food critic Tom Sietsema in the feature writing category for his story about dishwashers, the unsung heroes of the restaurant kitchen; and Tim Carman, Fritz Hahn and Shelly Tan in the category of innovative storytelling for their “America’s most authentic dive bars” multimedia package.
