The Washington Post and WBUR today announced the jointly produced podcast “Edge of Fame” has reached one million downloads. Launched in February 2018, the podcast delivers intimate, surprising audio portraits of actors, musicians and comedians through in-depth interviews and revealing field recordings hosted by Post National Arts Reporter Geoff Edgers.
“Since the first episode of ‘Edge of Fame’ was released, listeners have been transported to ‘The Tonight Show’ green room, heard a phone call from Oprah, and listened to David Letterman talk about his biggest regret while sitting by the Hudson River,” said Edgers. “The podcast has allowed me to share my reporting in a visceral and raw way that adds depth to what you get on the printed page, and I’m glad so many listeners have taken an interest in being a part of this journey.”
The latest episode followed Timothy and JonJelyn Savage, a Georgia couple who have been on a campaign against R. Kelly since their daughter, Joycelyn, left college to live with the singer. In other recent episodes, Edgers interviewed HBO Insecure star Issa Rae and members of the band Hanson.
