Announcement from Director of Editorial Video Micah Gelman and Deputy Director of Video Phoebe Connelly:
We are pleased to announce Osman Malik’s promotion to creative director for video, overseeing video graphics and animation.
Osman started at The Post in 2013 as a video graphics editor for the launch of Post TV. Since then he has provided animations on projects that included the Pulitzer-winning coverage of Russian interference in the 2016 election, the Edward R. Murrow Award-winning coverage of the Flint water crisis, and a piece on popular hangover remedies that won an SND Award of Excellence. Along with his animation work, Osman coordinated real-time graphics for last year’s coverage of the total solar eclipse and our live shows related to the 2016 presidential election.
Osman, who was appointed deputy creative director in 2015, is a quiet force for ensuring our visual graphics are best in class. He led last year’s redesign of our core video graphics. He’s a trusted mentor to colleagues on the video graphics team and to others in the department as well. Before joining The Post, Osman spent six years as senior graphic artist at WTTG (Fox 5).
A D.C. native, Osman lives in Maryland with his wife Erin, a nurse practitioner, and their two children, Isaiah and Amina. Please join us in congratulating Osman on his new role.
