Cathleen Decker joins National Politics team as Campaign Editor

Announcement from National Editor Steven Ginsberg, Deputy National Editor Lori Montgomery and Deputy National Politics Editor Peter Wallsten:

We are very excited to announce that Cathleen Decker is joining The Post as Campaign Editor on our national politics team.

Cathy comes to The Post from the Los Angeles Times, where she has covered nine presidential campaigns and eight races for California governor. Cathy will help oversee our coverage of the 2018 and 2020 campaigns, leading a growing and talented reporting crew that will ensure The Post remains the dominant source for national politics.

Cathy oversaw the Times’s coverage of the 2012 election, editing a team of reporters that included Matea Gold and Tom Hamburger. During the 2016 presidential campaign, she wrote analysis and news pieces throughout the primaries and general election. Since then, she has largely worked out of the Times’ Washington bureau helping to cover Capitol Hill and the Trump administration.

Cathy is married to former Los Angeles Times reporter and editor Richard Meyer and has two grown children. Please join us in welcoming Cathy to The Post. Her first day is May 21.
