Announcement from Graphics Director Chiqui Esteban and  Senior Graphics Editor Tim Meko:

We’re happy to announce that Kate Rabinowitz will join the graphics team as a graphics reporter, focusing on politics.

Kate has most recently worked as a data fellow for ProPublica, where she has covered stories about politics and race. Before that, she created the data visualization site DataLensDC, which told stories about the city’s trends and offered tips for navigating the city using data reporting and graphics. She has also worked as an economist for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Kate graduated from Boston University with a Bachelors and a Masters in Economics. She also received a graduate certificate in Data Mining and Applications from Stanford University.

Kate is very involved in the coding community in D.C., having worked as an organizer for Code With DC, Tech Lady Hackathon and Hear Me Code.

Her first day will be June 4. Please join us in welcoming Kate to the newsroom.
