Buying New | Verse in Tysons Corner, Va.
Creating walkability: The Tysons area is known for shopping and dining but certainly not for walking. “We’re creating the concept of walkability and a lifestyle change, said Chris Blakemore, sales manager with the Mayhood Co., which is handling sales. “We’re changing the face of Tysons.”
The Georges, a couple in their early 30s, are moving to Verse for exactly that reason.
“Amanda and I are sacrificing land for the luxury of convenience that Verse and The Boro community will provide,” Corey George said. The Georges bought a 20th-floor one-bedroom unit with a balcony.
“We don’t need a big house and lots of acreage,” George said. “You end up living only in a small portion of that large square-footage, and you always have to drive. In The Boro, everything we need will be at our fingertips because we can walk.”
D’Amato, a single mother, took her sons to see the model unit. “They were both like, ‘Mom, this is awesome,’ ” she said. “My older son offered to make the den his room because, ‘I’m going to college and don’t know how often I’ll be home,’ he said.”
She added: “By the time we move, I won’t have to drive them around anymore. My younger one will be old enough to go see his friends on his own. They can both get jobs in one of the little stores. And there’ll be several boutiquey gyms I can go to. I’m buying a lifestyle, not just a condo.”
Balconies and a Zen terrace: Two firms, Meridian Group and Kettler, are jointly developing Verse. Development of The Boro was described as being on an accelerated path, and all the components are expected to be completed at about the same time, late 2019. “When people move in [to Verse], everything will be in place to serve them,” Blakemore said.
Units have open floor plans for the living and dining areas and the kitchen. There are floor-to-ceiling windows, and many units have spacious glass-walled balconies. Bathrooms are large, storage space is plentiful and laundry appliances are behind a door. Dens, without windows, can be configured as a TV room, a guest bedroom, an office or a library.
The building will have 24-hour concierge service and a small entry-lobby lounge with a fireplace. Also planned is a “grand entertainment lounge” with double-height ceilings, flexible partitioning for private events, fireplaces, billiards, flat-screen TVs, indoor and outdoor kitchens, and glass doors that open to outdoor terraces.
Verse residents will have direct access to a swimming pool. A fitness studio will connect to an outdoor Zen terrace. Bike storage, a pet spa, a guest suite with hotel amenities, and storage units are part of the resident package.
