The building has five levels above ground, including part of the penthouse that is not visible from K Street. Most units have already been sold. The city is expected to grant a certificate of occupancy soon, and then move-ins can begin. Trent & Co., a team of Compass, is handling sales.

He said he was attracted to 1331 K because it’s new, modern and low-maintenance. He was drawn to the neighborhood, he said, because it’s close to the Capitol, “and every time I turn a corner, I see a monument.”
So he put in an offer and headed to a nearby restaurant — Trattoria Alberto on Eighth Street SE — to celebrate. Minutes after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell walked in, former House speaker John A. Boehner came “down the stairs to say hello to McConnell,” McCarthy said. “Secret Service sat at the table next to me. The moment was very reflective of what I expected D.C. to be like.”
Great views: Another buyer, April Gillens, is moving to 1331 from a building just two doors away. She has one bedroom now and will be upgrading to a larger unit with one-bedroom plus a den. “I’m expecting a baby in May and plan to make the den a nursery,” she said.
“I’ll be on the fourth floor and have a terrific view,” Gillens said. “From one window, I’ll see the Washington Monument, and from another, I’ll see 395 and the traffic and think of all the reasons people here don’t want a car. But I admit I’ll be looking into getting one for the needs of my child.”
Model unit 103 is on two levels, with the open-plan living area and kitchen on the unit’s upper level. The living area is on one side of the kitchen island and the kitchen appliances are on the other. The back wall has a lot of window.
Near the entry door is a bathroom and a spiral staircase. The black metal staircase leads down to a small hallway with a bathroom, a laundry closet and two bedrooms. Unit 103’s lower level is below ground level, and two other units, 001 and 002, are below ground level entirely.
