Tangerine and Tarragon Smash 1.000

A smash differs from a traditional caipirinha in that the drink is strained, so most of the pulverized pulp and leaves stay in the cocktail shaker.

Use a high-quality cachaca such as Leblon, Beleza Pura or Cabana.

Servings: 1
  • 2 tangerine slices
  • 2 sprigs tarragon, plus 1 sprig for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 1/2 ounces freshly squeezed tangerine juice
  • 2 1/2 ounces cachaça (see headnote)
  • Ice cubes
  • Crushed ice

Muddle the tangerine slices, the 2 sprigs of tarragon and the honey in a cocktail shaker. Add the tangerine juice and cachaca, then fill with the ice cubes. Shake well, then strain into a large wineglass or double old-fashioned glass filled with crushed ice.

Garnish with the tarragon sprig.
