‘Inside These Lines,’ a TV spot focused on football and unity, will re-air during Sunday Night Football

The NFL first aired ‘Inside These Lines,’ a 60-second video centered on football’s ability to unify and the power of its players, during the last Super Bowl and will do so again during Sunday Night Football on NBC later on. The game will be between the Raiders and Redskins at FedEx Field in Hyattsville. The video is narrated by actor Forest Whitaker and carries heightened significance given the way sports and politics have intersected this weekend. Around the NFL and sports world, players, coaches and executives are denouncing comments made by President Trump at a Friday rally and on Twitter, which have mostly been focused on the NFL and protests during the national anthem.

Commissioner Roger Goodell tweeted that the spot “reflects the unifying force of our great game, our players & clubs”:

NFL anthem protests: Sunday brings a tidal wave of responses to President Trump

Sunday is seeing the strongest demonstrations yet by NFL players, directly responding to President Trump’s demand of NFL owners to “fire or suspend” players for protesting inequality and police brutality.
