“It’s something he played through that he wanted to clean up,” Gruden said. “It was irritating him.”
Williams, who has been bothered by right knee pain this season, missed six games last year with knee problems, eventually going on injured reserve. He had surgery last December for what he described as readjusting his tibia.
“Screwed it back down,” he said in July. “Tried to align the joints so that my kneecap isn’t out of place.”
Gruden said running back Adrian Peterson sprained his ankle in Sunday’s win over Green Bay, and Josh Norman had a hamstring pull on the next-to-last play, but neither injury is considered serious. He said he hopes to have both back for the New Orleans game, as well as right tackle Morgan Moses, who was put into the concussion protocol on Sunday.
