Five-star point guard Jeremy Roach is out for the season after tearing his right ACL, according to the Paul VI junior’s father. The injury occurred in the Panthers' scrimmage Saturday.

Roach, a member of Team Takeover, a Nike-affiliated AAU squad in the Washington area, will have surgery in December once the swelling in the knee goes down, according to his father. Doctors estimated his recovery time to be nine months.

Roach, 6-foot-2, 165 pounds, is the No. 1 ranked point guard in the Class of 2020, according to the 247Sports composite. He had just cut his list to his top four colleges: Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina and Villanova.

Roach was preparing to begin his junior season with Paul VI, one of the top boys basketball programs in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and the D.C. area. Over the previous two summers, he won gold medals with Team USA’s U17 and U16 World Cup teams.
