The Washington Redskins will go with their third tight end for a third straight week after Vernon Davis was ruled out Friday; he remains in the concussion protocol. Davis was limited in practice all week and has missed the past two games, and Jordan Reed is on injured reserve with concussion issues of his own. Jeremy Sprinkle is the top tight end in their absence, and he will again get the call Sunday against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers at FedEx Field.

Running back Chris Thompson also was ruled out with a toe injury that kept him out of practice all week. Wendell Smallwood will fill the third-down back role with Thompson out.

Safety Deshazor Everett (ankle) will miss his second consecutive game, and linebacker Josh Harvey-Clemons (hamstring) will miss his third in a row. Rookie guard Wes Martin is out with a chest injury.

Starting cornerback Josh Norman (thigh/hand) is questionable after not practicing all week.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel (groin), tackle Mike McGlinchey (knee), defensive tackle D.J. Jones (hamstring), running back Kyle Juszczyk (knee), cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon (foot) and tackle Joe Staley (fibula) are out for the 49ers. Running back Raheem Mostert (knee) returned to practice on a limited basis after missing the Wednesday and Thursday sessions.
