The following student-athletes have been selected to The Washington Post’s 2019 All-Met team for girls’ soccer:

Player of the Year

Rachel Deresky, F, Jr., Northern

An almost unstoppable offensive force, Deresky had an area-high 49 goals as well as 17 assists to spearhead the Patriots’ second consecutive Maryland 3A title run. The Vanderbilt commit couldn’t be contained on the biggest stage, scoring four goals in her team’s 5-0 state championship game win over Wilde Lake. She also netted two goals in the Patriots’ semifinal victory against Linganore. Deresky’s 122 career goals make her the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference’s all-time leading scorer.

First team

Ashley Bilger, GK, Sr., Centennial

The Frostburg State signee made 104 saves in 12 matches.

Lindsey Brick, D, Sr., Quince Orchard

Over the past two years, the Syracuse signee anchored a back line that allowed a total of 15 goals as one of Montgomery County’s top teams.

Courtney Corcoran, MF, Jr., Spalding

In dictating the tempo for the Cavaliers, Corcoran recorded five goals and five assists for the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference runners-up.

Kayla Edwards, D, Sr., Elizabeth Seton

In helping the Roadrunners make their first Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title game appearance in 24 years, Edwards recorded nine goals and nine assists and captained six shutouts. She will play at Cal State Bakersfield.

London Lewis, F, Sr., Calvert

To cap her high school career, the High Point commit scored both of the Cavaliers’ goals in their 2-1 Maryland 2A championship win over Middletown. She finished the season with 26 goals and 10 assists.

Lena McLaughlin, D, Sr., Severna Park

She helped the Falcons record 12 shutouts and also scored seven goals for the Maryland 4A runner-up.

Sophia Michalski-Cooper, MF, Sr., South River

A two-time first-team All-Met selection, the VCU signee controlled the pace with six goals and four assists.

Kale’a Perry, F, Sr., McNamara

The VCU signee and WCAC player of the year scored in every game she played, finishing with 20 goals.

Kiki Rice, F, So., Sidwell Friends

Following a historic freshman season, Rice notched 22 goals and nine assists for the Independent School League Class AA champion and D.C. State Athletic Association runner-up.

Zoë Vidaurre, D, Jr., St. John’s

The Ohio State commit contributed to eight shutouts for the DCSAA champion.

Anna Young, MF, Sr., Good Counsel

With six goals and eight assists, the Towson signee helped the Falcons secure their second consecutive WCAC crown.

Coach of the Year

John Baker, Calvert

After his team fell short in the Maryland 2A playoffs each of the past three years, the fourth-year coach guided the Cavaliers to their first state title since 2014. They handed Century its first loss in the semifinals before beating Middletown, 2-1, in overtime in the championship game.
