Here are the biggest moments from the Washington Redskins’ 41-35 overtime loss to the New York Giants at FedEx Field. Scroll down to see a full recap of the game.

Daniel Jones throws game-winning touchdown (4:15 overtime): On third and goal from the 3-yard line on the opening possession of overtime, Jones dropped back and zipped a pass into the hands of tight end Kaden Smith, whose second touchdown of the game gave the Giants a wild win. The rookie-to-rookie connection capped an 11-play drive that featured a key 23-yard completion to Sterling Shepard on third and seven and gave Jones his career-high fifth touchdown pass of the game.

Dwayne Haskins exits the game with an ankle injury (14:43 third quarter): Haskins, Washington’s rookie quarterback, was every bit as good as Jones in the first half, completing 12 of 15 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns. On the first play of the third quarter, Giants linebacker Markus Golden dragged Haskins down by his left leg for a sack. Haskins remained on the turf for a minute and, after walking off the field, was taken into the locker room on a cart for further evaluation with the Redskins trailing, 28-14. Haskins returned to the sideline later in the third quarter, but Case Keenum played the rest of the game.

Pass interference penalty extends Redskins’ drive (0:41 fourth quarter): On fourth and goal from the 3 with Washington trailing 35-28, Case Keenum’s pass intended for Steven Sims Jr. fell incomplete. Giants cornerback Corey Ballentine was flagged for pass interference on the play, giving the Redskins a first and goal on the 1. Keenum scored on a bootleg on the next play — officials ruled he crossed the plane of the goal line before losing control of the ball — and Dustin Hopkins drilled the extra point to tie the game.

Hale Hentges makes a diving catch (3:18 fourth quarter): The Redskins’ game-tying drive covered 99 yards over six minutes and featured several highlight-worthy plays. On third and nine from the Washington 2, Case Keenum connected with Steven Sims Jr. for a 32-yard gain. Fellow rookie wide receiver Terry McLaurin made a leaping grab along the right sideline to give the Redskins a first-and-goal. The best play of the march came on third and five from the Washington 39. Keenum scrambled to his left and threw across his body in the direction of Hale Hentges, who made a diving catch for a 22-yard gain. Hentges, Washington’s backup tight end, made his first career touchdown catch in the first half.

Nate Orchard blocks a punt (14:38 fourth quarter): The Redskins trailed by 14 points early in the fourth quarter and appeared to have been backed up to their own 2-yard line after a 60-yard punt by Riley Dixon. A holding penalty on Giants safety Michael Thomas negated the play and forced Dixon to punt again. Redskins linebacker Nate Orchard blocked Dixon’s next attempt, giving Washington the ball at the New York 17. After a pass interference penalty in the end zone, Adrian Peterson dove across the goal line to make it a one-score game.

Sterling Shepard gives the Giants the lead (12:21 first quarter): The Giants received the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards on five plays. On second and nine from the Washington 23, Daniel Jones found Shepard wide open down the left sideline for a touchdown. Shepard got behind cornerback Aaron Colvin, and safety Landon Collins was a step too slow to make a play on the ball.

Haskins answers with a touchdown pass (7:37 first quarter): The Redskins responded by scoring on their first possession for the first time since Vernon Davis’s touchdown catch in Week 1. Haskins capped the nine-play drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Steven Sims Jr., who made a diving catch in the end zone after Haskins scrambled to keep the play alive.

Saquon Barkley scores on a long touchdown run (6:46 first quarter): In a game that featured touchdowns on the opening five possessions, it didn’t take long for the Giants to reclaim the lead. On the second play of New York’s second drive, Barkley found a huge hole up the middle. Montae Nicholson had a chance to prevent an even bigger gain, but Barkley juked the Redskins safety and outraced everyone to the end zone for a 67-yard touchdown.

Cody Latimer scores before halftime (0:38 second quarter): The Giants began their final drive of the first half with 2:19 on the clock and no timeouts. That was more than enough time for Daniel Jones. One play after Jones connected with Golden Tate on a third-down catch that set up first and goal, he found Latimer for a 10-yard score that gave New York a two-touchdown lead.

Dwayne Haskins exited with an ankle injury after being sacked on Washington’s first play from scrimmage in the third quarter and did not return. Haskins played well in the first half, completing 12 of 15 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns.

Fellow rookie quarterback Daniel Jones had a career day for New York. Jones completed 28 of 42 passes for 352 yards and five touchdowns. He joined Fran Tarkenton and Deshaun Watson as the only quarterbacks to throw at least four touchdown passes without an interception in three games as a rookie.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley was unstoppable. The second-year pro rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries and had four catches for 90 yards and another touchdown.

Redskins rookie wide receiver Steven Sims Jr. had a pair of touchdown catches in defeat, one each from Haskins and Case Keenum.

Washington lost its ninth straight game against an NFC East opponent, but improved its draft position in the process. If Miami wins or ties against the Bengals today, the Redskins can clinch the No. 2 pick in next year’s draft with a loss to the Cowboys next week.

The Giants won the toss and go the ball first to start overtime. A 12-yard run by Saquon Barkley gave New York a first-and-goal at the 2. Barkley was stuffed for a loss of one on first down and Daniel Jones threw the ball away on the next play. On third-and-goal, Jones found tight end Kaden Smith over the middle for his career-high fifth touchdown pass of the game. (Giants 41, Redskins 35 at the end of the game)

With two seconds remaining after a 16-yard completion to Golden Tate advanced the ball to the Washington 45, the Giants initially sent kicker Aldrick Rosas onto the field to attempt a career-long 62-yard field goal. New York thought better of that decision after using a timeout and instead attempted a Hail Mary as time expired. Daniel Jones’s heave landed shy of the end zone and incomplete. Overtime awaits. (Redskins 35, Giants 35, end of the 4th quarter)

A pass interference penalty on Giants cornerback Corey Ballentine on a fourth-down pass into the end zone gave Washington a first-and-goal at the 1. On the next play, Case Keenum lost control of the ball as he dove for the goal line on a bootleg. Officials ruled that Keenum crossed the plane before he fumbled, and the call was upheld upon replay review. Dustin Hopkins drilled the ensuing extra point to tie the game. (Redskins 35, Giants 35 with 0:29 left in the 4th quarter)

The Redskins will have a first-and-10 from the New York 24 coming out of the two-minute warning. Washington’s latest drive began at its own 1 and has featured a couple of impressive third-down conversions. On third-and-nine from the Redskins’ 2, Case Keenum found Steven Sims Jr. for a 33-yard gain. On third-and-five from the Washington 39, Keenum scrambled to his left and threw across his body to backup tight end Hale Hentges, who made a diving catch for a 22-yard gain. (Giants 35, Redskins 28 with 2:00 left in the 4th quarter)

Facing fourth-and-four from the Washington 35, Giants Coach Pat Shurmur opted to send on New York’s field goal unit rather than leave the offense on the field. Aldrick Rosas’s attempt from 53-yards never stood a chance and the Redskins took over with excellent field position. (Giants 35, Redskins 28 with 11:20 left in the 4th quarter)

After a defensive pass interference penalty in the end zone gave the Redskins a first-and-goal at the 1, Adrian Peterson dove over the pile for his 111th career rushing touchdown, fourth most all-time. Peterson tied Walter Payton for that mark with a touchdown in last week’s loss to the Eagles. (Giants 35, Redskins 28 with 14:30 left in the 4th quarter)

After a holding penalty on Giants safety Michael Thomas negated Riley Dixon’s punt that was downed at the Washington 2-yard line, Dixon’s next attempt was blocked by Nate Orchard and recovered at the Giants’ 17. (Giants 35, Redskins 21 with 14:38 left in the 4th quarter)

Saquon Barkley’s 51-yard catch and run set up a 9-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Jones to rookie tight end Kaden Smith, who was wide open after yet another apparent blown coverage by Washington’s depleted secondary. (Giants 35, Redskins 21 with 3:43 left in the third quarter)

Keenum is 6 for 7 since entering the game for Dwayne Haskins and capped a seven-play drive with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Steven Sims Jr., who has a pair of scoring grabs in the game. Two plays earlier, wide receiver Kelvin Harmon threw an 11-yard pass to Chris Thompson after receiving a handoff from Sims on a reverse. Interim coach Bill Callahan is digging into his bag of tricks in Week 16. (Giants 28, Redskins 21 with 6:38 left in the 3rd quarter)

As the Redskins began their second drive of the second half, Haskins, who suffered an ankle injury on Washington’s previous series, walked out of the tunnel and joined his teammates on the sideline. His status was downgraded to doubtful, meaning Case Keenum will probably finish the game at quarterback for the Redskins. (Giants 28, Redskins 14 with 10:19 left in the third quarter)

On the Redskins’ first play from scrimmage in the second half, Dwayne Haskins was sacked by Markus Golden, who grabbed the rookie quarterback by his lower left leg. Haskins remained down and, after walking off the field, was taken into the locker room on a cart. Case Keenum entered the game at quarterback for Washington. Haskins is officially questionable to return with an ankle injury. Two plays later, Redskins right tackle Morgan Moses hobbled off the field with a knee injury and was listed as questionable to return. (Giants 28, Redskins 14 with 14:43 left in the 3rd quarter)

Both rookie quarterbacks played well in an entertaining first half that featured little in the way of defense. Dwayne Haskins was 12 for 15 for 133 yards and two touchdowns for Washington, while Daniel Jones was 14 for 18 for 165 yards and three touchdowns for New York. The difference was Giants running back Saquon Barkley, who had a 67-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a 33-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. Barkley has 159 total yards in the game.

After the teams traded punts, the Giants began their final drive of the first half with 2:19 remaining and no timeouts. That was more than enough time for Daniel Jones, who capped the nine-play march with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Cody Latimer. Golden Tate had a 31-yard catch earlier in the drive, and the Giants also benefited from a questionable unnecessary roughness penalty on Redskins linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton. (Giants 28, Redskins 14 with 0:38 left in the 2nd quarter)

Pro Bowl selection Tress Way pinned the Giants at their own 10 after Dwayne Haskins threw incomplete on third-and-eight from the New York 41. The Redskins converted their first four third-down opportunities in the game. Haskins has thrown consecutive incompletions since starting the game 10 for 10. (Giants 21, Redskins 14 with 5:42 left in the 2nd quarter)

Saquon Barkley now has a 33-yard touchdown catch to add to his 67-yard touchdown run earlier in the game. Daniel Jones found the running back wide open on a blown coverage to cap a 10-play, 75-yard drive. The Giants and Redskins have combined for five touchdowns on five possessions. (Giants 21, Redskins 14 with 9:16 left in the 2nd quarter)

Haskins capped a 12-play, 75-yard drive that lasted 7 minutes with a short pass to Hale Hentges for the backup tight end’s first career touchdown catch. Haskins, meanwhile, is 9 for 9 for 111 yards and two touchdowns. He and Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones have perfect passer ratings thus far. (Redskins 14, Giants 14 with 14:56 left in the 2nd quarter)

Defense is apparently optional at FedEx Field today. Saquon Barkley is already over 100 yards rushing after his 67-yard touchdown run gave the Giants the lead again on their second drive. (Giants 14, Redskins 7 with 6:46 left in the 1st quarter)

The Redskins responded with a 75-yard touchdown drive of their own on their first possession, with Dwayne Haskins finding Steven Sims Jr. in the end zone on a third-and-three from the New York 10-yard line. Haskins, who scrambled to keep the play alive on his touchdown pass, was 4 for 4 for 67 yards on the drive. It was Washington’s first score on its opening drive since Week 1. (Redskins 7, Giants 7 with 7:37 left in the 1st quarter)

The Redskins won the toss and elected to defer, giving the Giants the ball first. New York needed only five plays to march 75 yards for a touchdown on a 23-yard pass from Daniel Jones to Sterling Shepard. Jones was 3 for 3 on the drive, which was sparked by a long run by Saquon Barkley on the Giants’ second play from scrimmage. (Giants 7, Redskins 0 with 12:21 left in the 1st quarter)

The Redskins will be without cornerbacks Quinton Dunbar and Fabian Moreau, but safety Landon Collins is active after being listed as questionable this week with an Achilles’ injury.

Washington Redskins (3-11) vs. New York Giants (3-11)

When a pair of three-win teams meet in the penultimate week of the regular season, as the Redskins and Giants will on Sunday in Landover, there’s arguably more to gain by losing than winning. Washington and New York have both been eliminated from playoff contention, and while the winner will avoid the ignominy of falling into the basement of the league’s worst division, the loser will improve its chances of <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/12/18/projecting-nfl-draft-order-where-redskins-are-likely-pick/?itid=lk_inline_manual_73" target="_blank">landing a top-three pick in next year’s draft</a>. The ideal scenario for both teams might be for their respective rookie quarterbacks to play well in an injury-free contest, only to lose on a last-second field goal. Perhaps they’ll tie.

The Giants won the first meeting between the teams this season, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/09/29/redskins-vs-giants/?itid=lk_inline_manual_74" target=_blank>a 24-3 triumph at MetLife Stadium</a> in Week 4, back when the rivals were still playing for this year. Haskins came off the bench to replace an ineffective Case Keenum in the first half and completed 9 of 17 passes for 107 yards and three interceptions in his NFL debut.

“I throw up watching that film,” <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/12/18/dwayne-haskins-says-watching-tape-his-first-redskins-game-makes-him-sick/?itid=lk_inline_manual_75" target="_blank">Haskins said this week</a>. The rookie has improved considerably since then, and is coming off his best game as a pro, a 261-yard, two-touchdown performance in last week’s loss to the Eagles.

Fellow rookie quarterback Daniel Jones will return for the Giants after missing the last two games with a high ankle sprain. Jones completed 23 of 31 passes for 225 yards, a touchdown and a pair of interceptions against Washington in Week 4. The No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft has 18 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 11 starts this season. New York ended a nine-game losing streak with a win over Miami last week, while the Redskins have lost two straight.
