Week 13′s late-afternoon slate had fans at the edge of their seats as two teams made goal line stands to secure wins. The Pittsburgh Steelers fended off a two-point conversion attempt to nip the Baltimore Ravens by a point, while the Seattle Seahawks denied the San Francisco 49ers the three final yards they needed for a potential tie.

The most dramatic last-minute sequence, however, unfolded earlier in Detroit, where the Lions scored a touchdown as time expired to beat the Minnesota Vikings and get their first win of the season. The trio at the top of the NFC had little trouble Sunday, starting with the Arizona Cardinals, who kept their conference lead by swatting aside the Chicago Bears. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took care of business against the Atlanta Falcons, and the Los Angeles Rams stopped a three-game losing streak with the help of the hapless Jacksonville Jaguars.

Teams that kept themselves in the thick of the playoff chase with victories included: the Los Angeles Chargers, over the Cincinnati Bengals; the Indianapolis Colts, over the Houston Texans; the Washington Football Team, over the Las Vegas Raiders; the Miami Dolphins, over the New York Giants; and the Philadelphia Eagles, over the New York Jets.
