March Madness highlights No. 1 seeds Alabama, Houston fall; Creighton ousts Princeton

After an epic set of games Thursday night, March Madness continued Friday with Sweet 16 matchups in both the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments. In the men’s bracket, we saw history: San Diego State stunned Alabama and Miami ousted Houston, leaving the Elite Eight without any No. 1 seeds for the first time. On the women’s side, LSU held off Utah and Caitlin Clark led Iowa to a win over Colorado. Continue reading for highlights from all the games.

Here’s what to know

In the women’s games, Miami ousted Villanova, 70-65, Angel Reese’s LSU topped Utah, 66-63, Clark’s Iowa eliminated Colorado, 87-77, and Louisville defeated Mississippi, 72-62.
On the men’s side, it was a pair of No. 5 seeds that did the damage to the top seeds: San Diego State defeated Alabama, 71-64, while Miami cruised to a 89-75 win over Houston. Later, No. 15 seed Princeton’s Cinderella run ended with an 86-75 loss to Creighton and Texas upended Xavier, 83-71.
