March Madness highlights U-Conn. tops Miami in Final Four; San Diego State hits buzzer-beater

March Madness continued Saturday with the men’s Final Four in Houston. San Diego State secured its spot in its first championship game when Lamont Butler hit a buzzer-beater for a thrilling comeback win over Florida Atlantic. Connecticut continued its dominant run through this tournament by beating Miami in the second semifinal. The Aztecs and Huskies will face off Monday night for the national title.   • San Diego State, whose smothering defense had carried it throughout the tournament, rallied from behind to beat Florida Atlantic, 72-71. The Aztecs are on a redemption tour after the pandemic wiped out the end of their dream season in 2020.
  • With Saturday night’s 72-59 win over Miami, Connecticut has won all five of its tournament games by double digits. The Huskies reached the title game for the first time since 2014, when they beat Kentucky. Miami had made a memorable run under veteran coach Jim Larrañaga, who was back in the Final Four after leading George Mason there in 2006.
