ALDS: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles preview

Why the Yankees can win: They may be aging, but this Derek Jeter-led team has rarely had to fight for a division title like it did this year. There are questions in the rotation, but New York still has the best starter in the series going into Game 1: lefty CC Sabathia, who went 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA over his final three starts of the season.

Why the Orioles can win: A lot of time has been spent discussing what the Orioles aren’t. But what they are is a gutsy group with its share of potential stars. Center fielder Adam Jones gives them a dynamic presence. Catcher Matt Wieters plays like a veteran. Closer Jim Johnson (51 saves) was the best in the game. And who’s done a better job than Manager Buck Showalter?

Prediction: Yankees in five.
