The Capitals are playing Tampa Bay for the second time in five days, after losing to the Lightning 6-3 in Tampa Saturday.

The Caps will celebrate their Stanley Cup victory on Monday with President Trump. Some members of the team have said they will not attend.

Goals from Andre Burakovsky, Brett Connolly, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson lifted Washington to its ninth win in 11 games.

“You try to put yourself in a situation where everyone’s ready to play and perform,” Coach Todd Reirden said of Djoos. “This seemed like the right time to put him in with a back-to-back. It’s not a great situation to have players not playing for quite some time."

“I mean, you grow up watching the Caps, you dream of playing for them,” Snively said. “It felt really great to sign a contract with the Capitals, but my goal is to play in an NHL game with them, and I’ve still got a lot of work to do before that.”

Tampa Bay, the NHL’s points leader, uses its speed and transition games — and a hat trick from Alex Killorn — to beat Washington, 6-3.

Washington beat Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference finals last postseason, but the teams have yet to meet this season.

“Do you know why Ovi scores so much? Because Backstrom shares the puck.”

Brett Connolly scores twice and helps out on a third goal, helping Washington beat a desperate Philadelphia team, 5-2.

The two share an Edmonton-based sports psychologist, and the 20-year-old Hart looked up to Holtby growing up.

Vrana, who has 21 goals with 22 assists through 70 games, will be Washington's top restricted free agent priority this offseason.

Pittsburgh scored three goals in less than two minutes to erase a two-goal deficit before holding on, 5-3, to claim the rivals’ final matchup of the regular season.

From the Penguins' GM to star Sidney Crosby, the Capitals' physical forward has been a recurring talking point in Pittsburgh.

Washington’s penalty kill hasn't been beaten over the past five games, perfect in its past 16 times shorthanded, and after the unit struggled through the first half of the season, it’s ranked fifth in the NHL since the start of February.

The backup goaltender made 33 saves to help Washington to a 3-1 win over Winnipeg.

"We had to, at some point, make a decision of when to play Pheonix, and we think that tonight’s the right night with the week we have ahead of us as well," Coach Todd Reirden said.

The Capitals probably didn’t plan to take the same path in their ambitions for repeating as champions, but they are looking increasingly comfortable the closer they get to the playoffs.

Braden Holtby pulls out all the stops — 25 in total — in a 3-0 victory over injury-riddled New Jersey.

“The growth of successful teams in the NHL were kind of revolving around having three lines of depth,” Coach Todd Reirden said. “For me, the next level is to get to four lines of depth.”

Monumental Sports and Entertainment bought out the remaining three years on the bar's lease.
