MACOMB, Ill. — Kobe Webster scored 21 points with eight rebounds and four assists and Western Illinois beat Division-III North Park University 84-56 on Saturday.
Webster was 8 of 18 from the field including three 3-pointers for the Leathernecks (1-1). Isaac Johnson added 14 points a led the team with nine rebounds. C. J. Duff also had 14 points with four rebounds and three steals and Ben Pyle and James Claar each had 11 points.
Western Illinois shot 52 percent from the field overall compared to 32 percent for North Park.
The Leathernecks took a 17-9 lead to start on a Brandon Gilbeck dunk and never looked back, taking it to 40-20 at the break.
Claar opened the second half with a dunk and Webster drained a 3-pointer to stretch the Western Illinois lead to 55-28 with 13:46 to play.
Vegard Tangen scored 20 points on five 3-pointers to lead the Vikings.
