Outlook: With a week off from league play, United Coach Ben Olsen has an opportunity to test newcomers and young players in a friendly against Mexico’s most popular club. MFs Luis Silva, acquired from Toronto FC this week, and Jared Jeffrey, signed from the German team Mainz, are expected to make their debuts. Olsen has also suggested using Collin Martin, an 18-year-old attacker from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High and Wake Forest who signed a homegrown contract this week. Also available is Michael Seaton, a 17-year-old homegrown striker from Capitol Heights. He has been on loan to third-division Richmond all season and will skip the Kickers’ USL match at Rochester in order to make his United first-team debut. United’s Dwayne De Rosario (hip flexor) and Nick DeLeon (ankle) remain out. Chivas, which features Mexican players only, is prepping for the Liga MX regular season opener July 21 against Santos Laguna. The traveling delegation includes several regulars: GK Luis Michel, Ds Hector Reynoso, Kristian Alvarez and Omar Esparza, MF Patricio Araujo and Fs Miguel Sabah and Carlos Fierro. Four Chivas players are currently with the Mexican national team at the CONCACAF Gold Cup: D Miguel Ponce, MFs Jorge Enriquez and Marco Fabian and F Rafael Marquez Lugo.
