Outlook: The second game of a doubleheader featuring the Spain-El Salvador friendly marks United’s third visit to the Redskins’ home; the club played friendlies against Chelsea in 2005 and Real Madrid in 2009. . . . United has lost just two of its past 11 matches and, with a victory, would claim first place in MLS’s Eastern Conference. New England is two points ahead but does not play until Sunday against New York. . . . F Fabian Espindola enters the weekend fifth in the league in goals with seven and tied for third in assists with five. . . . Ds Chris Korb (hamstring) and Nana Attakora (foot) are out. Sean Franklin, who replaced Korb in the first half of last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City, is expected to make his first start since late April when he was sidelined with a foot ailment. . . . MF-F Federico Higuain, Columbus’s leader in goals (six) and assists (five), is expected to sit out with a hamstring injury suffered in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Real Salt Lake, and F Dominic Oduro (no goals in 11 appearances) was traded to Toronto FC on Friday for MF Alvaro Rey. The Crew is also missing Costa Rican World Cup Ds Waylon Francis and Giancarlo Gonzalez. . . . This marks the third meeting between the clubs: Columbus won the season opener at RFK Stadium, 3-0, and scored a late equalizer at home despite playing a man down to salvage at 1-1 draw on April 19.
