Only injuries stand between Woodgrove and another year atop the district. Hardison (10.4 points per game) was named player of the year as a junior, while Purnell should be the league’s top post presence. A Penn State soccer commit, Brittany Basinger, a 5-9 senior guard, is a key do-it-all piece.

Loudoun County will rely heavily on five freshmen to replace the seven seniors who dominated last season’s 21-win outfit. . . . Berry, a transfer, averaged 7.7 points per game as a sophomore at Fairfax. . . . Expect Dominion’s 5-4 junior guard Alexia Johnson to emerge as one of the area’s most prolific scorers.
