Smith is the county’s top returning player coming off a junior year in which he averaged just over 17 points per game for the Panthers after transferring to Annapolis from South River. He’ll take on an even greater scoring load this season replacing Jourdan Stickler, who averaged almost 26 points per game as a senior last season. . . .

Arundel returns seven seniors from last year’s 24-2 squad, including guards Keaton Mack and Austin Carroll, who will start in the backcourt for the Wildcats. Senior Marcus Oliphant is an athletic wing player who appeared in just 11 games last season but could be a major contributor for Arundel this season. . . . Corey Martin led North County in scoring a year ago as a sophomore, scoring nearly 17 points per game. He’ll be asked to shoot even more this season as a junior and to play a more significant defensive role for the Knights.
