Coolidge must replace Khalen Cumberlander and DeShaun Morman from last season’s D.C. Interscholastic Athletic Association championship team, but the Colts still have plenty of talent. Coach Vaughn Jones expects a breakout season from point guard Omar Roberts (5.7 points per game), who has started all four seasons at the school. Forwards Najee Britton (6-5) and Shaquille James (6-5) should be immediate impact players on the perimeter for the Colts. . . .

Theodore Roosevelt has a number of versatile forwards, including Tavon Alexander and Everett Quick, who will lead a core of six returning starters. The Rough Riders also add point guard Johnnie Shuler, who sat out last season after transferring from DeMatha. . . . Jerome West returns to run the point at Spingarn, which won 23 games a year ago behind West’s 18 points per game. . . . Wilson graduated four of its top six scorers, but the Tigers are expected to be one of the league’s most disciplined defensive teams again this winter under Coach Eric White Andre Williams. . . . Dunbar will rely heavily on junior guard Kenneth Beckham, who averaged 8.7 points per game last season and is the Crimson Tide’s most experienced returner.
