Magruder stands out from the crowd, coming off its second Maryland 4A title last March. The Colonels don’t have much size, but they should make up for it with an uptempo attack led by Epps, who hit the go-ahead free throws in the state final against Eleanor Roosevelt. George Washington signee Griffin and 6-foot-3 senior Justin Witmer are also among the county’s top scorers. . . . Sherwood brings back four players with starting experience from last year’s state tournament team and added three transfers who are expected to make an immediate impact, including former DeMatha big man Dozier. . . . Paint Branch (17-8) returns six of its top seven scorers from last season, paced by senior guard Jordan Radway (11.6 ppg). . . . Senior guard Tomazye Anderson is Springbrook’s lone returning starter, but the five-time state champ Blue Devils will present matchup problems with their size and athleticism. . . . Murray, a fourth-year starter at point guard, has increased his scoring each season at Kennedy and put up 19.5 points per game last winter.
