In the past couple of weeks, teams in the Top 20 have played in tournaments across the country — from South Carolina to Delaware to Georgia to Nevada to Pennsylvania to California — with the holiday break affording them the opportunity to travel and face top competition.
But with the start of the new year — and schools returning to a regular classroom schedule — local clashes will again take center stage.
It started Tuesday night, as Paul VI beat St. John's, 62-57, on the road for a top-10 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference win. And it'll continue this week, as four ranked teams will participate in the IAC/MAC Challenge at Maret on Saturday and public schools start their county and district schedules in earnest.
