After four seasons at the helm, Park View football Coach Ferris Eways has resigned from his position at the Sterling school.
Eways posted an 11-31 record during his tenure, and led the Patriots to a 5-7 record and the second round of the Virginia AA Region II Division 3 playoffs in 2010, his first year.
Eways said he will continue to teach health and physical education for the rest of the school year.
“I would like to thank the Park View community and school for the past four years,” Eways said Friday. “These were some of the best years of my life with the great group of parents, administrators and kids. I have chosen to resign to spend more time with my family, and I wish the program the best in the future.”
The Patriots went 2-8 last fall, and will bring back leading rusher Henry Argueta, who ran for 508 yards last season.
“I’m going to miss spending time with the players because those relationships last a lifetime,” Eways said. “There is nothing like watching them grow from freshman to high school graduates.”
“I came in after his first year he did a great job and grew as a coach and gave a lot to our kids,” Patriots athletic director Jason Testerman said.
Testerman and his staff will open the job to candidates next week and will look for a knowledgeable coach with experience.
“We want to hire somebody that the kids will run through walls for [and] they can relate to well,” he said. “We have some great kids and we want a new voice.”
