Led by a pair of younger players, the Landon golf team Monday scored its biggest victory in five years.

Sophomore Brent Bubes shot 1-over par 36 and freshman Morgan Egloff carded a 39 as the Bears beat Georgetown Prep, 205 strokes to 214, at Bethesda Country Club for their first victory over their Interstate Athletic Conference rival since 2007.

Landon improved to 12-0 by beating the team that has won the past six IAC titles.

Bubes “is having a really good year for me,” Landon Coach Jack Duquette said. “He’s had several rounds under par in very big matches.”

Brendan Peel led the Little Hoyas with a 37.

The IAC tournament is Monday at Congressional Country Club.
