Tennis: Landon wins IAC-Ben Johns tournament

Landon had just one individual champion but advanced an entrant into the finals of all seven tournament flights to win the Interstate Athletic Conference Ben Johns Tournament championship at Episcopal on Saturday.

The Bears edged second-place Bullis and third-place St. Albans for the league tournament title, but those three teams were named IAC tri-champions based on team points accrued during the regular season.

St. Albans had won the regular season team title, with Bullis finishing second and Landon third.

Bullis swept the four individual singles championships at the Ben Johns event, led by sophomore Kasey Countee, who earned a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 1 singles final against Landon’s Alexander Reinke.

Darian Hashemzadeh, Saman Bahadorie and Reggie Lesesne were Bullis’s other singles champions.

St. Albans’s Max Bryski and Jamie Gerber won the No. 1 doubles championship, Landon’s Seth McNair and Deacon Brew won No. 2 doubles and St. Albans’s Eric Zhao and Sam Boley won No. 3 doubles.
