In anticipation of the final week of the regular season, the AllMetSports staff compiled playoff scenarios for area Virginia public school regions. Under the new Virginia High School League format, 16 teams make the playoffs from each of the two regions within each classification. Check out whether your favorite team has clinched a spot, needs a win to get in or needs some help.

Virginia 6A North

In: Lake Braddock (9-0), Centreville (9-0), Westfield (7-2), Langley (7-2), Yorktown (8-1), Washington-Lee (7-2), Patriot (7-2), South County (7-2), T.C. Williams (6-3)

In with a win: Robinson (7-2), Battlefield (6-3), Fairfax (6-3), Stonewall Jackson (6-4; season complete), Chantilly (5-4), South Lakes (5-4), McLean (5-4)

Need help: Hayfield (4-5), West Potomac (4-5)

Skinny: Centreville clinches the top seed with a win. The winner of Friday’s game between Yorktown and Washington-Lee could secure the No. 3 seed if Westfield and Langley lose. Hayfield currently holds the No. 15 spot but would miss the playoffs if South Lakes beats Fairfax and McLean beats Langley. West Potomac needs a win against T.C. Williams and losses by either McLean and South Lakes, Hayfield and South Lakes or McLean and Hayfield.

Virginia 6A South

In: Hylton (8-1), Forest Park (7-2)

In with a win: Woodbridge (5-4)

Skinny: Forest Park needs a win against Hylton to secure homefield advantage in the first round; Woodbridge needs to beat Gar-Field (0-9) to get in.

Virginia 5A North

In: Tuscarora (8-1), Stone Bridge (7-2), Briar Woods (8-1), Broad Run (6-3), Falls Church (6-3), Freedom-Woodbridge (4-5)

In with a win: Potomac (3-6), Mount Vernon (3-6), Jefferson (4-5), Potomac Falls (4-5), Lee (2-7)

Need help: Edison (3-6), Stuart (2-7)

Skinny: Tuscarora needs to beat Briar Woods and a Massaponax loss to clinch the top seed. Briar Woods needs to beat Tuscarora and a Stone Bridge loss to vault from the No. 4 seed to the No. 2 seed. Edison currently holds the No. 15 spot but could miss the playoffs if Brooke Point beats Massaponax. Stuart needs a win against Falls Church and losses by either Edison and Lee, Edison and Brooke Point or Lee and Brooke Point to clinch a playoff spot.

Virginia 4A North

In: Woodgrove (6-3), Loudoun County (5-4), Dominion (5-4)

Skinny: Woodgrove clinches the No. 8 seed with a win over Loudoun Valley (8-1) Friday. Currently No. 10, Loudoun County can move to No. 8 with a Friday win over Heritage (2-7) and a Liberty (5-4) loss to Fauquier (5-4). Dominion can clinch the No. 11 seed with a win over Potomac Falls (4-5).

Virginia 3A East

In: Loudoun Valley (8-1)

Need help: Champe (2-7)

Skinny: As wells as Loudoun Valley has played this season, the Vikings aren’t going to be able to catch Lafayette (9-0) for the No. 1 seed. A Valley win Friday against Woodgrove would give them the No. 2 spot and home field through to the region final. Currently holding the No. 14 seed, Champe needs a win at Park View (1-8) to get in. If Champe losses, they’ll need losses by No. 15 William Monroe (3-6) at Clarke County (9-0) and No. 15 New Kent (2-7) at Warhill (1-8) to extend their season. Wins by both of thoses teams would keep the Knights from the first playoff berth in school history.
