4 p.m. at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, N.J. Records: Bison 1-2; Bears 1-2.
Struggling Bison: The Bison are struggling to move the ball in their first year under Coach Gary Harrell, ranking 103th nationally in yards per game (266.7). Howard scored a touchdown on its opening drive in last weekend’s 23-9 loss to Norfolk State. Its next five possessions: turnover on downs, punt, turnover on downs, fumble, interception (the last three drives ending inside the Norfolk State 30). Three of the Bison’s final four drives — punt, turnover on downs, punt, turnover on downs — also ended in Hornets territory.
Bears struggle more: Morgan State, on the other hand, might be envious of Howard’s offensive problems. The Bears rank 121st — dead last — in FCS total offense (187 yards per game) and 116th in scoring offense (9.7 points per game). Morgan State has also struggled with penalties: The Bears had 11 for 139 yards in a 13-12 loss to Robert Morris last weekend and 9 for 79 yards in a 58-13 loss to Bowling Green on Sept. 10.
Happy returns: Howard senior wide receiver Brandon Drayton has been one of the few bright spots for the Bison so far. He ranks sixth nationally in punt returns at 18.2 yards per return.
