AAA Cardinal District

Favorite: Hylton (11-1)

Each of the past two years, the Bulldogs have gone unbeaten during the regular season and lost to Battlefield in the Northwest Region Division 6 playoffs.

Best rivalry: Do boxes full of recruiting mail count? Hylton linebacker E.J. Levenberry (Florida State), Potomac lineman Donta Wilkins (Virginia) and Woodbridge junior defensive end Da’Shawn Hand (dozens of scholarship offers) are three of the most coveted players in the Washington area. The Bobcats have gone 54-9 the past five seasons, with three consecutive Division 6 state playoff berths and a state title in 2010.

Best rivalry: Osbourn vs. Battlefield (Oct. 5)

Osbourn, in the playoffs six times in the past seven years, has beaten Battlefield in three of the teams’ past four meetings. The last five games in the series have been determined by a total of 17 points. The teams have combined to win or share the past seven Cedar Run titles.

The two-time defending Division 4 champion has won 20 straight games against district foes (including playoffs) and returns 11 starters, including heavy-hitting LB Matt Rolin (South Carolina), all-district RB Cory Colder and third-year QB Trace McSorley.

Best rivalry: Loudoun County vs. Tuscarora (Sept. 21)

The second-year Huskies knocked their Leesburg rivals from unbeaten ranks en route to their first playoff berth last season.
