Kastles unveil schedule for 2014 season

The Washington Kastles return their two former world No. 1 players, Venus Williams and Martina Hingis, along with the trio that led them to three consecutive World TeamTennis championships, for the 2014 season.

Joining Hingis and Williams, who’ll both be in the lineup for the Kastles’ July 16 home match, are former league MVPs Leander Paes, 40, and Bobby Reynolds, 31, as well as Anastasia Rodionova, 31. Murphy Jensen returns as the Kastles’ coach.

The Kastles are seeking their fourth consecutive and fifth overall WTT championship this season, having won the Billie Jean King Cup in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Hingis, 33, will compete in all seven of the Kastles’ home matches. Williams, 33, who counts five Wimbledon championships among her seven Grand Slam event singles titles, will appear only on July 16.

Currently in its 39th season, WTT consists of seven teams (one fewer than last season). Two of the teams are new: The Austin Aces, led by former No. 1 Andy Roddick, and the San Diego Aviators, featuring former world No. 5 Daniela Hantuchova.
