Fever at Mystics

When: 2 p.m. Where: Verizon Center.

Records: Washington 3-1; Indiana 1-4.

Fast start

After winning consecutive games for the first time since 2010 — scoring surprising victories over Connecticut and Minnesota last week— the Mystics are off to their best start in three years under new Coach Mike Thibault. They already have more road victories (two) than last season.

Latta looking good

Thibault’s marquee free agent acquisition this offseason, point guard Ivory Latta, has wasted little time establishing herself as Washington’s new go-to scorer. Latta was named the WNBA’s Eastern Conference player of the week after she finished with 24 points and three assists in the Mystics’ win over the Minnesota Lynx. She leads the team in minutes, points and assists per game.

Slumping Fever

Indiana, the 2012 WNBA champion, visited President Obama at the White House on Friday, but that’s about the only positive development for the Fever this season. Indiana has lost four straight games, its longest skid since 2007. The Fever have seen four contributors go down to injury thus far, and leading scorer Tamika Catchings is shooting just 35.2 percent from the field.
