A motorcyclist died after driving off Interstate 395 north and crashing into a cement wall and a guardrail early Tuesday morning, officials said.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. near Washington Boulevard.

Virginia State Police said the motorcycle driver was “traveling at a high rate of speed” when the vehicle went off the road and hit a cement wall. It then crossed over the highway and struck a guardrail. The rider was ejected and the motorcycle caught on fire, police said.

The motorcyclist died at the scene. Police said they are still “in the process of locating and notifying” the driver’s family.

The crash remains under investigation.

A crash that seriously injured one person has closed part of Interstate 395 north in Arlington.

The crash happened near Washington Boulevard.

The cause of the crash is not known at this time, and it’s not clear how long the road will be closed. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
