Home to Bollywood stars, investment bankers, devout Catholics and expats, Bandra is easygoing and cool. It’s a blend of old and new, with cafes and craft breweries, murals dotting its bylanes, churches on every corner, street markets and old mansions. Bandra is an eclectic neighborhood where, it seems, the party never ends.

Meet Abhishek Mande Bhot

Abhishek was born and raised in Mumbai. He loves the summers, but looks forward to the 2½ days of Mumbai “winter” when it’s 77 degrees Fahrenheit and he can finally wear his thin pullover.

Bandra West

Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount
Even though the current structure is only about a century old, the history of the church dates to the 1600s and involves Jesuit priests, Arab invaders and a dream about a Mother Mary statue floating in the sea.

Castella de Aguada (Bandra Fort)
Very little of this once-strategic fort remains today, but Castella de Aguada is a popular spot for lovers, fitness bros, yogis and tourists, all of whom are seeking a quiet space and an unrestricted view of the Arabian Sea.

Mannat mansion
Home to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, the poetically named Mannat (loosely translated from Urdu as a vow in return for a divine favor) is something of a shrine for his fans, who flock here even just to see the large gates that protect the Italian-style villa.

Kekee Manzil
The mansion right next to Mannat belongs to the family of Kekoo Gandhy, who was responsible for discovering several modern greats in the art world, including M.F. Husain. Constructed in 1921, Kekee Manzil is a three-story gem complete with arched stairways, intricate detailing, mosaic tiles and French balconies.

Karachi Sweets
Few dishes are representative of Mumbai like bhel, a curious mixture of the most unlikely ingredients — puffed rice, vegetables, and tamarind and jaggery sauces. The street snack is freely available, but one of the most hygienic places to have bhel is this store.
