When I first met my partner, I noticed he did a lot of things differently than me. Many of his social habits and expectations varied from mine. Over time, though, I learned that a lot of his routines had come from growing up in Germany. And while Germany is a large country with many different cultural traditions, traveling there over the years has helped me to better understand some of the things he grew up with.
