Global threats to a free press

  • All

Journalists worldwide risk their lives daily in the name of press freedom. They include reporters, broadcasters, photographers and bloggers. In some repressive countries, they are also political activists. With the help of Committee to Protect Journalists, Reporters Without Borders, La Maison des Journalistes and Global Voices, we have asked 30 journalists and bloggers to tell us about instances in which they were threatened, attacked or censored for their reporting. Listen to their stories below, and if you're interested in sharing your own, please email Zoeann.Murphy@washpost.com.

This project is a part of the ongoing series examining the human cost of reporting the news around the world. Read Part 1: Living Like a Fugitive.
