Ryan calls for 'party unity' after Flake's announcement
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) wished Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) the best on Oct. 25, the day after Flake announced he would not seek reelection in 2018. "People should settle their differences personally," he said. "It's in our interest to have party unity."
