South Korean court rules dismissal of late transgender soldier unjust

A South Korean court ruled on Oct. 7 the military discriminated against the country’s first known transgender soldier, Byun Hui-su, by forcefully dismissing her for undergoing gender reassignment surgery. She died by suicide earlier in March 2021.
