“Inflation is affecting the tech industry in a few different ways. The biggest one is actually … in tech. Which has been hit harder than the other industries. And that's because as growth stocks they're very inflation or interest rate sensitive."- Theresia Gouw (Video: Washington Post Live)
“If you look at the companies that were started or grew dramatically during the last two downcycles … some really amazing companies were started during these time periods. It turns out to be a really good time to be at a startup or start a company."- Theresia Gouw (Video: Washington Post Live)
“The crypto boom and bust ... reminds me a little bit of the dot com boom and bust. Where there were some really large public failures at the application level ... But it didn't mean that the underlying technology wasn't still going to grow."- Theresia Gouw (Video: Washington Post Live)
“I think it starts even before the pitch meeting because how do you get into that meeting? Like many other businesses, we are largely through referrals … Part of why it matters is who gets invited into those pitch rooms is a function of the networks … of the partners who they are meeting with on the other side. If you have a partnership where everybody has the same demographic, educational, work backgrounds you’re going to get great networks from that group. But you’re maybe missing a whole huge other group of people.” - Theresia Gouw (Video: Washington Post Live)
